Hi LEGO fans! I'm reviewing the 2017 LEGO Halloween seasonal special, 40260 Halloween Haunt complete with unboxing and LEGO speed build. This year's LEGO Halloween seasonal set includes two minifigures of a skeleton and a vampire included in the 145 part count.
Halloween Haunt's main build is a pair of spooky gates guarded by a spider which open up to reveal a haunted fireplace. It's a cool build with some nice LEGO elements but it's not clear why a pair of gates should open directly onto a fireplace. Also, there is a silhouette of a haunted house within the fireplace so I can only conclude this is some kind of derelict ruin through which we can see a haunted house set against the sunset.
Build time on this 2017 LEGO Halloween set was 18 minutes and you can see the entire LEGO build in timelapse during the 60 second speed build set to funky Halloween music.
There are two mini builds in this LEGO Halloween set including a cauldron set over a fire for some advanced LEGO potion making. We also get a dark green quarter circle plate with pumpkin and generic LEGO rat which is less desirable an addition to the set.
LEGO have included some very nice elements in this set including limb elements in medium lilac, previously only found in Elves and Disney LEGO sets. There are also some nice 1x2 modified plates with vertical teeth, an awesome LEGO pumpkin head with dual molding and a torso piece recycled from the Monster Fighters theme, Winter Toy Shop and Palace Cinema. Definitely worth grabbing a couple of 2017 LEGO Halloween Haunt sets for the elements.
Included in the instructions for LEGO's Halloween Haunt is a preview of the 2017 LEGO Thanksgiving seasonal special, set number 40261 featuring a farmer and his daughter tending the fall harvest. The set also includes a tree in fall colors, wagon and a turkey. I'll be following up soon with a full review of the 2017 LEGO Thanksgiving set.
